"Just here to help"

During my early years as an educator, there seemed to be an 'us v. them' paradigm between the school administrators, who were responsible for the day-to-day operations and leadership, and the teachers and assistants, who were responsible for the welfare and learning outcomes, and assessment (putting it mildly) of children. This paradigm changed to collaborative and servant leadership over the years, but there was always tension from the past that remained, as new initiatives and programs were rolled out in our schools. This tension, when unaddressed or considered, often can lead to silos and factions within the organization, thereby crippling the needed progress.

It is always our goal to help organizations move forward. However, that requires an open and honest assessment of climate, culture, expectations, and norms. When change is desired or necessary, we must consider these intangible factors when navigating or implementing support for our teams

At Options and Perspective Consulting, we help you make the plan for change, and ask questions about the plan through the lens of the local context so that the plan elements are informed by this context. This includes the impact on the norms and expectations that are currently in place. Some questions we consider are the following:

  • How will your team perceive this change?

  • Are there underlying supports/enablement to keep the undesirable elements from changing?

  • How can we anticipate what individuals might think and feel when hearing this plan for the first time?

Remember that properly implemented change, although unpleasant at the outset, can be the determining factor for your team's future success or failure.

At Options and Perspective Consulting, we are 'just here to help' you make the changes that are necessary and beneficial for your team, its success, and the positive impact on your community at large. Reach out to us today and see how we can help you!
